In this episode of The Firm Public Relations & Marketing's Virtual PR Water Cooler,
professional speaker and award-winning author Robin Jay offers tips on how to make the best impression
with a face-to-face business lunch (or breakfast).
A few highlights about some of the people we work with on a daily basis:
»For the 4th year, Tropical Smoothie Café rings in summer with its National Flip Flop Day celebration. On Friday, June 18, Tropical Smoothie Café will give away a free Jetty Punch™ smoothie to the first 500 customers wearing flip-flops at each of the 20 Las Vegas Valley locations. Throughout the month of June, Tropical Smoothie Café will accept donations for Camp Sunshine, a year-round retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses.
»Take a whirl on the mechanical bull—Gilley's is back on the Strip exclusively at Treasure Island Las Vegas! Gilley's Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que, with its world-famous Gilley’s Girls and soon-to-be-named bucking machine, celebrated its official grand opening in mid-April. Welcome back Gilley's!
»Congratulations to Paramedic Michael Devitte, American Medical Response (AMR), for earning this year’s Star of Life award from the American Ambulance Association. Michael received the award for his many acts of service and professionalism, including reuniting a tourist who has Alzheimer’s with his family. Michael is the 12th Star of Life recipient from AMR Las Vegas.
Two companies have literally taken social media to the streets in an effort to attract new customers.
In London, women are on the prowl for the Jimmy Choo Trainer Hunt, following CatchAChoo on Twitter, Facebook and FourSquare to potentially catch and keep a free pair of new Choo trainers (aka. sneakers). Competition is stiff with more than 1,300 followers on Twitter, nearly 155,000 ‘Likes’ on Facebook and approaching 800 friends on FourSquare, so sync up your smart phone and go catch a Choo!
7-Eleven buckled up with two teams racing from coast to coast in the 7-Eleven Road Trip Rally. Using Twitter and interactive website media, people were able to follow the racers progress to the INDY 500, track their 7-Eleven purchases and compete against them in mini challenges to get the most followers. Read more about this unique use of social media on The New York Times’ Media Decoder blog.
Having invaded the teen lexicon in everything from "The Hills" to any high school cafeteria, there is no escaping the overuse of the word like. Even Facebook recently changed "Fan" pages to "Like" pages.
With so many ways to use the word (e.g. an adjective, a comparison, a space filler) we wanted you to know that we happen to like the new album by Meat Loaf!
