In this episode of The Firm Public Relations & Marketing's Virtual PR Water Cooler, Solveig Thorsrud-Allen, our company president and CEO sits down with presentation guru, executive coach and strategic planner Karen Durkin of Houldsworth, Russo & Co. to discuss tips on executing a powerful presentation.
For this issue of "The Firm Insider", we are spotlighting one of our newest clients, Realm of Design Inc.
With our help, the company recently launched a Facebook campaign to encourage legendary rock group The Rolling Stones to visit its new facility now under construction – inspired by Swarkestone Hall Pavilion in England, the location of one of the band's most famous photo shoots.
Perhaps more interesting is that the external façade of the new building is made out of green architectural stone, an invention by Realm of Design founder Scott McCombs. The green stone is made from 99.8 percent renewable materials including recycled glass that is gathered from Las Vegas Strip casinos. Upon completion, the new facility will use 200,000 pounds of renewable materials, including 100,000 pounds of recycled glass within the green stone.
The company also offers the green stone for interior and exterior architectural designs such as fountains, balustrades, mantels, countertops and flooring – you name it. We are proud to post a photo of the new facility, but it truly is an "in person" must see!
The world of social media is a lot like high school—everyone wants to be popular, talked about and know who their true friends are. Below are three examples of tools that can help you gauge where you fall in the social media hierarchy.
Tweet Effect is an indicator of when your followers no longer deem you worthy to listen to. It tells you how many and when followers leave showing the effect of an unpopular tweet. Social Mention is gossip central, pulling mentions from "across the universe" and analyzing the overall sentiment, top key words used, the top users (who talks about you most) and the top sources your product, issue or idea is appearing on. Friend or Follow will tell you who your real friends and followers are. It outlines who does not follow you back or retweet your thoughts on Twitter.
Go ahead and put your post, tweets and hashtags to the test with these free tools to learn the impact and reach of your social media efforts.
In the 80's, the phrase "You sank my Battleship!" became part of mainstream culture—creating a worldwide obsession with the board game and also the television commercial produced to
promote it.
Fast forward nearly 30 years and we are again obsessing over Battleship, this time through the application for the iPhone and iPad. Solveig, the captain of our ship, has taken on and defeated many other fleets successfully. Check it out and see how you fare in the virtual sea.
