The Firm Inisder :: Issue #7
Happy Sweet 16!

It was 16 years ago in March 1993 when Solveig Thorsrud started The Firm Public Relations & Marketing. We hear that most kids get a car on their Sweet 16, but we’ll salute the company with a simple song.

A few highlights for some of the people we work with on a daily basis:

» Earth Hour Las Vegas is in full swing and on March 28, 2009 at 8:30 p.m., hotel casinos on and off the Strip along with businesses and residents throughout the Las Vegas Valley will stand in solidarity with the rest of the world to make a bold statement about their concern for climate change by doing something quite simple—turning off their lights for one hour. Visit www.earthhourlv.org for further information about Earth Hour Las Vegas, see who is participating, check out a blog and explore toolkits to help you and your family take part in this exciting project.

If you are a business in Southern Nevada and plan to participate – WE WANT TO KNOW! Click here to fill out the business participation form and who knows, we may contact you with media opportunities.

» On March 7, the
Nevada Office of Veterans Services will host the second annual Nevada Women Veterans Summit at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino in Reno. The Summit will give Nevada's women veterans an opportunity to reconnect with friends, meet other women veterans and learn useful information about benefits and resources. Click here for further information.

» Nevada Public Radio is holding its 6th Annual Online Auction with items that include a wide variety of exciting experiences. Bid on exclusive dinner and spa packages, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Donny and Marie Osmond and a chance to explore backstage and meet the cast and crew of favorite Cirque du Soleil shows, among many other auction items. Participate in the online auction by clicking here and bidding to support public radio.

A Picture IS Worth A Thousand Words

In a previous issue of The Firm Insider, we obsessed over photography and let you know how important it is for promoting you or your company.

Guess what? We are still obsessing over it! Photography is as important as ever and at our Virtual PR Water Cooler, we offer a few tips to keep in mind the next time you snap a picture.

News Of The Firm

Do these people look familiar? You may already work with Cheryl Bella, Jasen Woehrle and Kevin Dunegan, but we’re excited to reintroduce them as The Firm’s new executive team. Strategic superstars. Communications dynamos. PR gurus. No matter what you call them, they help set the strategic direction of client accounts and the company. Join us in congratulating them.

The awards keep rolling in as the Las Vegas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators recognized Kevin Dunegan for his work with the Boy Scouts of Las Vegas. Kevin received an Award of Excellence for his creative writing of a press release to promote a fundraising event for the Boy Scouts.

On Wednesday, March 11, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce will host our own Cheryl Bella as part of their Business Education Series. The topic: Social Media Opportunities and Challenges, What Businesses Need to Know. To register for this informative seminar or for further information, click here.

What we are Obsessing Over

With digital video capacity of one hour and only a few buttons to deal with, it is easier than ever to capture video with the Flip Video Camcorder. Have it handy at parties, lectures, meetings or fun events with family and friends. It’s also a cinch to transfer the video to your computer—no software required!

All staff members of The Firm are armed with Flips, but don’t worry, we’re not dangerous…

Check out www.theflip.com for further info.
